Academic Delegation from The University College London Visits the Baghdadi Cultural Center

On Thursday, April 24, 2025, the Baghdadi Cultural Center hosted an academic delegation including Professor Eleanor Robson, Head of the Department of History at The University College London (UCL); Deputy Director Dr. Mehiyar Al-Saadi of The Nahrein Network and Director of the Liwan Organization; and Ms. Amal Ibrahim, Director of the Peta Center for Cultural Services. They were welcomed by Baghdadi Cultural Center Director Mr. Talib Essa and the senior staff as part of their visit to review Iraq’s pioneering interactive guide project.

▪️Professor Robson, during her tour, noted that “the Baghdadi Cultural Center’s recent developments have transformed it into a cultural and tourist hub, reflecting the authentic heritage and spiritual essence of Iraqi society.” She expressed her delight at the warm hospitality she received while exploring the libraries and cultural venues, and she praised the efforts to showcase Iraqi civilization and culture to the world. She especially commended the conversion of one hall into a dedicated museum and visitor guide, undertaken in collaboration with The University College London, The Nahrein Network, and the Peta Center for Cultural Services.

▪️Robson added that the Baghdadi Cultural Center on Al-Mutanabbi Street serves as a living model of cultural media, attracting writers, poets, and readers every Friday. She highlighted the regular intellectual seminars and book exhibitions held there, calling the Baghdadi Cultural Center an ideal destination to experience the dynamic interplay between media and community culture.
