On the evening of Thursday, April 24, 2025, the Cultural Advisory Office of the Prime Minister’s Office, in collaboration with the Baghdadi Cultural Center and with the support of the Iraqi Private Banks League (IPBL), initiated a photographic exhibition by archivist and photographer Rizkar Al-Barzanji, dedicated to the memory and work of the late director Mohammad Shukri Jamil. The exhibition was held in the historic Old Baghdad Mutasarrifate Building on Al-Sarai Street.
Dr. Aref Al-Saadi, Cultural Advisor to the Prime Minister, noted that the exhibition “documents the oeuvre of an artist whose creative legacy enriched Iraq’s art scene and remains vivid in the minds of generations. We hope for continued artistic contributions in the spirit of Al-Barzanji’s work,” he added, praising Baghdad Governor Abdul Muttalib Al-Alawi, the Baghdadi Cultural Center’s administration, and the Iraqi Private Banks League for their support of cultural events along Al-Mutanabbi Street.
Mr. Mustafa Al-Nuaimi, Deputy Director of the Baghdadi Cultural Center, commented: “This exhibition represents the extensive efforts of photographer Rizkar Al-Barzanji, featuring numerous photographs and biographical materials on the late director Mohammad Shukri Jamil. Jamil contributed significantly to Iraqi drama, theater, cinema, and television. At the same time, the exhibition serves as an archival repository, ensuring his achievements remain a lasting part of Iraq’s collective memory.”
